Bird was a 12-time NBA All-Star and, together with Celtics teammates Robert Parrish and Kevin McHale, formed arguably the greatest frontline in NBA history. Bird was the league’s most valuable player three times (1984-86) and was named to the NBA 50th Anniversary Team in 1996. His jersey number, 33, has been retired by the Boston Celtics.
