On October 27, with his 2 doubles off of Josh Fogg in the top of the third inning of game three, he became the first rookie, and joined Matt Williams (2001) as the only players to hit 2 doubles in the same inning of a World Series game. After hitting another double off of Brian Fuentes in the 8th inning, he became 1 of 4 rookies ever to hit 3 doubles in a World Series game. His 4 hits, including a single in the first inning, in game three made him only the third rookie to ever accomplish the feat; the others being Joe Garagiola (1946) and Freddie Lindstrom (1924). In Game 4, Ellsbury hit a lead-off double off Aaron Cook and scored the first run of the game. He added another single in the 8th inning as the Red Sox finished the sweep of the Colorado Rockies. Ellsbury was the 2007 American League Rookie of the Month in September and finished this season batting .353, hit 3 home runs, batted in 18 runs, stole 9 bases, scored 20 runs and hit 41 times.
