They are only a quarter-inch thick but highly durable; they will not burn or stain, can be easily cleaned up with a garden hose and will even outlast many of the grills themselves. The material breathes to minimize water buildup beneath the pad, which can cause stains and mildew. This is a common problem with many grill protectors because they retain water or excessive moisture underneath.
