Hopalong Cassidy, Vol.1 (Full Frame)

Includes the following episodes: "Border Patrol" - Hopalong Cassidy and his pals, working as Texas Rangers, set out to find how twenty-five Mexicans have disappeared after being hired by the "Silver Bullets" mine. They ride into town and find that the mine owner is a one-man government. He arrests them on a trumped-up charge and they are tried before a kangaroo court. "Doomed Caravan" - Jane Travers (Minna Gombell) runs Crescent City Freighting Company and proves her mettle by fighting off a gang of would-be robbers who have been plaguing her freight line. Hopalong Cassidy arrives with his pal Lucky to deliver a gold shipment and winds up joining Jane's caravan to help protect the gold. In El Dorado, Hoppy uncovers the source of the robberies, and together they battle to the finish the leader of the gang. "Fool's Gold" - Hopalong Cassidy's old friend, Colonel Jed Landy (Forbes Murray), visits the Bar 20 to ask Hoppy to help save his son Bruce, who has deserted the army and joined an outlaw gang. Hoppy disguises himself as a cattle buyer and goes to Twin Buttes where the gang is operating. He discovers that Bruce is under the influence of a mad scientist, the gang's leader, Professor Dixon, who uses a collection of deadly spiders to dispatch his victims. "Forty Thieves" - Hopalong Cassidy, running for re-election as sheriff, loses the election when a gang of thugs, headed by a parolee Hoppy sent to prison five years before, rigs the election by intimidating the voters. The new sheriff is one of the gang's cohorts, and while celebrating his election, puts a bounty on Hoppy's head in a poker game. The next day, Hoppy uncovers the counterfeit ballots to prove the election was a fake, and confronts the gang in a shoot-out when they won't leave town. "Hidden Gold" - In this Cassidy Western, Hoppy and Lucky come to visit their old pal Speedy (Britt Wood) and reveal that they are investigating a series of gold thefts for the Express Company.
