Dr. Sydney Hansen (Melina Kanakaredes), a bright, attractive thirty-something year old, entered the field of cosmetic surgery with noble and altruistic ambitions, but several years of performing collagen lip treatments and nose jobs for celebrities and overprivileged teenagers in Los Angeles begin to erode her sense of purpose. Sydney's disenchantment with her career specialty, combined with a relationship breakup and a family crisis, prompts her to return to her hometown, Providence, Rhode Island, and find fulfillment working in a low-income medical clinic. Written and created by John Masius, the co-creator of "Touched By An Angel" and the executive producer of "St. Elsewhere," the series is a whimsical, yet heartfelt look at life through the eyes of one the the freshest characters you'll meet.
