"John Wayne: Western 4 Pack, Volume 1" includes: "Dakota" - John Wayne stars as John Devlin, a gambler who, with his new wife, Sandy (Vera Ralston), moves to North Dakota hoping to cash in on the land boom created by increasing railroad expansion. On their trip west, they meet two swindlers, Bender and Collins, (Ward Bond and Mike Mazurki) who have been pillaging farms and driving the farmers out of the territory. The two crooks steal John and Sandy's savings, a dangerous riverboat chase ensues, and the criminals make a clean getaway. In a desperate attempt to get back his savings and see justice prevail, Devlin joins the wheat farmers in a heated range battle against Bender, Collins and their gang. "Fighting Kentuckian" - John Wayne sets the wild "frontier" ablaze in this thrilling romantic adventure! Leading a regiment of Kentucky riflemen, Wayne passes through a settlement of dispatriated French families, all wealthy refugees of war from Napoleon's court. Wayne's heart is captured by the French general's daughter. But a rich and powerful rival, Blake Randolph, also has his heart set on her. As the two suitors lock horns, Wayne discovers his rival has a nefarious scheme up his sleeve, and soon the courtship battle escalates into a full-scale war. "A Lady Takes A Chance" - Finding men has never been a problem for city girl Molly Trousdale (Jean Arthur) - finding the right man is another matter. And women have never been a problem for cowboy bachelor Duke Hutkins (John Wayne) - until they want to marry him. If it's true that opposites attract, they're obviously made for each other. When Molly sets out from New York on a cross-country bus tour, she just wants to see America. But her plans take an unexpected turn out West, when she collides (literally!) with Duke while he's competing at the rodeo. He assumes she's just another pretty gal who'll fall into his arms, but she's a lady who won't be roped easily by a brawling, rough-and-ready cowboy.
