"Greatest Heroes & Legends Of The Bible, Vol.1" Includes: "Daniel And The Lion's Den"; "David And Goliath"; "Joseph And His Coat Of Many Colors"; "Samson And Delilah" and "Sodom And Gomorrah". "Daniel And The Lion's Den": As the story opens, we learn that the Babylonian army has just invaded Jerusalem. Much of the city has been destroyed. But the soldiers have been instructed to round up several boys who can serve in the King's court. Daniel is one of the boys who is singled out. Daniel is a stubborn lad. He refuses to eat the food he is served because he would violate Jewish law. He is not punished, however. On the contrary, when Daniel reveals that he has a gift for interpreting dreams, he gains the King's favor and is elevated to a position of power. "David And Goliath": When the story begins, David is a mere shepherd boy. He is a lad of uncommon courage. But no one imagines that he will someday become king of Israel - no one, that is, except for God. And so, David must prove himself. He does so by single-handedly defeating Goliath - a giant who has been terrorizing God's chosen people. Later, he faces an even greater challenge. But his faith in the Lord allows him to overcome all obstacles, and eventually, he takes his rightful place on the throne. "Joseph And His Coat Of Many Colors": The story begins when Joseph is just a boy. His brothers, we soon learn, are jealous because Joseph is his father's favorite. And so, they decide to sell Joseph into slavery in Egypt. Joseph faces many difficulties, but his gift for interpreting dreams eventually puts him in good standing with Egypt's ruler. Ultimately, he finds himself in a position of power - a position that would allow him to take revenge against his brothers. Instead he forgives them. Thus the tale ends on a note of hope and offers an uplifting moral message to viewers of all ages. "Samson And Delilah": It is clear from the very beginning of the story that Samson is destined for greatness.
