Complete Mr. Arkadin (A.K.A. Confidential Report), The (Full Frame)

With this release, The Criterion Collection unravels one of cinema's great mysteries. In Orson Welles' "Mr. Arkadin" (a.k.a "Confidential Report") an elusive billionaire hires an American smuggler to investigate his own past, and what follows is a dizzying descent into the Cold War landscape of Europe trying to erase it's history. There are at least eight "Mr. Arkadins" - three radio plays, a novel, several long-lost cuts of the film, as well as the only version previously seen on video, the controversial European release known as "Confidential Report." For this edition, Criterion has gathered all these elements from around the world - along with outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage, and a new comprehensive version of the film - for a landmark box set that brings into the light a great director's most troubled work.
