The girlfriend, a maid, convinces her boss, a rich industrialist that Cantinflas is the missing brother of his wife. The boss treats Cantinflas as a king to eventually benefit from the inheritance on his name. The young son, Raymundo is accused of stealing a purse, and is severely punished by his father. Through the years, the children leave the nest and begin lives of their own, until the eldest, Jose lands a job at a bank. Soon, his lust for money leads to robbery and with no one to turn to, begs his mother for the money. The house is soon mortgaged but the family is faced with the consequences of possibly losing their home.
