Tuya

Tuya - beautiful, hardworking and hardheaded - lives the traditional Mongolian herding lifestyle with her two children, 100 sheep and her husband Bater. They have resisted the government campaign to resettle them to urban areas but when Bater is disabled digging a well, the strain on Tuya to do everything herself becomes too much. Bater insists that she divorce him and take an able-bodied husband. Reluctantly, Tuya agrees but only if she can find a man who is willing to allow Bater to stay with her and his children. A series of suitors lines up, but it's not easy to find a man who fits the bill in this gently comic and endearing tale of a Mongolian design for living.
