Still Holding On: Legend Of Cadillac Jack (Full Frame)

It has been eighteen months since a prominent couple from Bossier City, Louisiana, was killed execution-style during an apparent robbery. District attorney Earl Wiggins and Deputy Sheriff Lon Gerker, both up for re-election, are desperate for a suspect. When they learn that Chester Anderson, a scruffy career criminal in a Missouri jail has information about the slayings, they are eager to hear what he has to say. Anderson names as the killer, a cocky Texas rodeo star, Jack Favor (Clint Black) - known to some as Cadillac Jack. On the word of a known liar, and without a shred of evidence, Jack is extradited to Louisiana. At the April 1967 trial, Anderson's testimony leads the jury to finding Jack to be guilty of double murder in the first degree. Jack begins to serve his life sentence at Angola Prison while the judge, deputy sheriff and D.A. are all rewarded with victorious elections. Meanwhile, rodeo proves to be Jack's salvation in prison. For the first time, Angola's rodeo attracts several hundred spectators from outside the prison's walls providing Jack with the courage to fight for his freedom. A fellow convict, Lenny, who uses his time to study law, helps Jack file an appeal while Ponder, Jack's wife (Lisa Hartman Black), manages to get Attorney Tom Keyser interested in Jack's case.
