Pierre and Emmeline Guitry (Keith Carradine and Blythe Danner) are devoted to the Church - until one day their young son Robbie reveals a devastating secret. He and other children in the community have been molested by the parish priest. When the Guitry family goes to the Church in search of comfort, they are instead offered a financial settlement and no guarantee of justice. The families of the other abused children are willing to take the settlement, but the Guitrys decide to stand alone and fight for their beliefs.
