Jason Cromwell (Albert Finney) is the highest-rated news anchor in the country. But when his latest investigation of a savings and loan association leads a bank president to suicide, questions start to arise. As evidence begins to suggest the man was wrongly accused, the media, and Cromwell in particular, appear to be more and more responsible for an innocent man's death.
