On July 26, 2005 at 10:39 EDT, the Space Shuttle Discovery was launched, making it the first shuttle launch since the February 2003 Columbia disaster. Never before has a manned space launch and mission been recorded in such detail. Over 124 cameras covered the launch and for the first time, exterior cameras were used to record booster separation.
