1964 - This historic Fall Classic saw Bob Gibson strike out 31 Yankees over 27 innings, Mickey Mantle's last World Series home run (record 18th), and the end of an era as the Cardinals dethroned the Yankees. 1967 - St. Louis once again went toe-to-toe with Boston led by Triple Crown-winning Carl Yastrzemski. The Redbirds and ace-on-the-hill Bob Gibson proved victorious in seven games. 1968 - In the "Year of the Pitcher" Bob Gibson and the Cardinals met the Detroit Tigers. Gibson struck out a record 17 batters in Game One, then won Game Four - his seventh consecutive complete-game World Series victory. However, the Tigers prevailed in seven games.
