The "Our Gang" short film series first surfaced in 192 as a sort of revolt against Hollywood's portrayal of children as "miniature adults." Quality writing and highly intuitive production made this low budget series a hit. Telling the story from a child's perspective worked- so well, in fact, that in 1955 MGM offered a package of these original short films to television where the series aired almost continuously on many stations and all at the same time. This type of phenomenon has only been matched by the reruns and syndicated episodes of "I Love Lucy".
