Last Minute Sales & Specials
The "Warner Bros. Holiday Collection Vol. 2" includes "All Mine To Give", "Blossoms In The Dust", "Holiday Affair" and "It Happened On 5th Avenue". "All Mine To Give" follows pioneers Mamie and Robert Eunson (Glynis Johns and Cameron Mitchell) through hardship, hard work and joy in 19th-century Wisconsin as they raise a family united by love. It's a love that will stay with the children after their parents are tragically gone, giving them the strength to turn terrible loss into a triumph of the human spirit. "Holiday Affair": Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh are warmly matched in "Holiday Affair", a seasonal favorite scripted by Isobel Lennart (later to adapt Mitchum's "The Sundowners") and directed by Hope/Crosby "road movies" veteran Don Hartman. Mitchum plays Mason, helping a child who'd otherwise find disappointment under the Christmas tree. The boy's war-widow mom (Leigh) notes the gesture, and she's drawn to the handsome stranger. But will she abandon the security of the prosperous attorney (Wendell Corey) dating her for the charm of this unemployed man who puts his money where his heart is? "It Happened On 5th Avenue": No one is inside that boarded-up mansion on Manhattan's ritzy 5th Avenue, right? Wrong. Its secret inhabitants include a philosophizing hobo and some GI families who are unable to find apartments during of the post-World War II housing crunch. They set up residence in the posh brownstone while the owner, the second richest man in the world, winters in Virginia. Except the owner isn't in Virginia. He's there in disguise...and discovering a lot about how the average Joe and Jane think and live. "Blossoms In The Dust" (Bonus Disc): An Oscar(R) winner and four-time nominee including Best Picture, "Blossoms In The Dust" is the heartfelt story of the woman who worked that miracle time and time again. In her first pairing with Walter Pidgeon, Garson imbues this real-life heroine with beauty, tenderness and will. Every child has a right to be loved.
