Set against the backdrop of events that stirred the immortal works of James Fenimore Cooper's "The Last of the Mohicans", "Sign Of The Otter" recounts one wilderness family's adventures and encounters with the American Indians, the English, and French in frontier America. Starring Dan Haggerty as the leader of the American rebel forces who teaches Samuel Todd (John Christian) how to exist in a hostile environment. Much akin to the theme and spirit of "Dances With Wolves", "Sign Of The Otter" shows American history unfolding at its rugged best. Sweeping vistas of rural America unfold as Samuel Todd accepts the help of a friendly Native Indian chief, Tekhane (John Weiner), in their pursuit of the ruthless British commander (Rick Washburn) who captured Todd's young son. Scaling the walls of historic Fort Niagara, Todd and his Indian friend manage to save the boy in a daring rescue, and then, with the British and their Mohawk Indian allies in hot pursuit, flee back to the American forces, culminating in a battle finale that captures the grand scale of these exciting and colorful times.
