In-Laws (1976) / The In-Laws (2003), The (Widescreen)

This Double Feature includes "The In-Laws (1976)" and "The In-Laws (2003)". (Side A) Sooner or later everyone must meet "The In-Laws". Alan Arkin is the father of the bride and a dentist by trade. Peter Falk is the father of the groom and a mercurial man of mystery, with mystery spelled C-I-A. All else is best left to the viewing (and the laughing) of this cult-fave mother of all nutty in-laws comedies that plunges hapless Arkin into Falk's loopy world of espionage. (Side B) The deadpan drollery of the original gives way to outsized glee in the remake, in which Michael Douglas plays the cagey spy who's so undercover even his secrets have secrets. Albert Brooks is his fish-out-of-water counterpart, a podiatrist reeled twisting and tossing into the deep end of global intrigue. It's called an intelligence operation. Go figure (and have fun).
