Who is Sphinx? Easily described as a landmark year in world events, 1991 saw the end of the Soviet Union, the first free elections in history for Taiwan, and the launch of the Hubble space telescope. Terminator 2 was tops at the box office and America witnessed one of the most riveting Super Bowls of all time. The year 1991 was also a landmark occasion for Oriental Weavers. With the introduction of the Sphinx Division, Oriental Weavers opened up a whole new category in the American rug market bringing decorative rugs to the United States.
